Day to day Itinerary

Days 1-2: First stop: Arusha, coffee capital | 1 Night

Arusha, Tanzania

Your East African journey begins in Tanzania after landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed. A short road transfer takes you Arusha Coffee Lodge – a tranquil guesthouse located among Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations. Serene gardens, views of Mount Meru and comfortable rooms make this a great place to rest and relax after a long flight, and you will be spoiled with delicious freshly-brewed coffee, cosy log fires when the weather is chilly and wholesome meals from the indoor-outdoor restaurant.

Days 2-4: Walking safari in Tarangire | 2 Nights

Tarangire, Tanzania

Leave Arusha behind as you enjoy a guided road transfer to Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire National Park where your game-viewing activities will begin. For many, Oliver’s Camp epitomises a classic safari camp experience and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. With only eight tents, you can expect privacy and unobtrusive personal service during your two nights here. At Tarangire you will see how life thrives around sources of water, perhaps with predators waiting in ambush! In addition to game drives, your stay at Oliver’s Camp includes a guided nature walk and a night drive.

Days 4-6: Discover Ngorongoro and surrounding craters | 2 Nights

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

The journey continues onto one of Africa’s most fascinating landmarks – the game-dense Ngorongoro Crater – en-route to The Highlands. This intimate camp is located on an extinct volcano and boasts jaw-dropping views of the plains. High-tech tented suites are fronted with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, with each warm and stylish tent featuring an enclosed fireplace to fight the morning and evening chill. Hiking the Olmoti and Empakaai Craters are a highlight, allowing you to see birds, butterflies and myriads of fern species, zebra and even the occasional elephant on foot.

Days 6-9: Safari & Migration in the Serengeti | 3 Nights

Serengeti, Tanzania

A road transfer takes you to Lake Manyara Airport where you will fly to Kogatende Airstrip. From there you will head to Kimondo Migration Camp to begin your thrilling Serengeti experience. Kimondo offers comfortable under-canvas accommodation, and relocates periodically, following the Great Wildebeest Migration as it moves across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Depending on the time of year you will be able to witness the incredible river crossings, calving or rutting stages of the annual cycle. Excellent year-round game viewing allows you to see large numbers of elephant, hippo, zebra and giraffe as well as apex predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena on one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

Days 9-10: Overnight at Nairobi National Park | 1 Night

Nairobi, Kenya

From Kogatende Airstrip you will bid farewell to Tanzania and begin the journey to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. Spend a night in Nairobi National Park – the only park in Africa where you can see giraffe, lion and plains game against a distant backdrop of city skyline. Your base is Nairobi Tented Camp, a down-to-earth tented lodge tucked among a grove of fig, ebony and wild olive trees in the rolling hills of the western portion of the park.

Days 10-12: Encounter the Amboseli Masai & elephants | 2 Nights

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Your adventure continues as you transfer by road to Porini Amboseli Camp in the Selenkay Conservation Area. Your days will consist of waking up bright and early for breakfast, followed by a morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. Enjoy a picnic in the heart of the wilderness before heading back to camp to spend the hottest part of the day relaxing. Head out again in the late afternoon to explore the Selenkay Conservancy, stopping at a scenic location for sundowner drinks. After watching the sun disappear behind the horizon, you will set out on a night game drive to spot nocturnal wildlife such as aardvark, caracal and bat-eared fox. Your stay also includes a visit to a nearby Maasai village where you can experience the local way of life and learn more about the history and conservation of Amboseli.

Days 12-14: See rhino & chimpanzees at Ol Pejeta | 2 Nights

Kenya

From Amboseli, you will fly to Nanyuki Airport, where you be met and transferred to Porini Rhino Camp located in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in the foothills of Mount Kenya. Settle in and recharge with a delicious lunch and afternoon tea at the camp before heading off on an afternoon safari in search of rhino. Be guided by experienced, armed rangers as you search for these highly endangered animals. The next day, explore the Ol Pejeta Conservancy further as you enjoy more thrilling game drives and guided walking safaris from camp. The conservancy is both home to the Big 5 and is a haven for endangered species such as endemic Grevy’s zebra and non-indigenous rescued chimpanzees.

Days 14-16: Safari & Migration in the Masai Mara | 2 Nights

Masai Mara, Kenya

After breakfast you will be met and transferred from Porini Rhino back to Nanyuki Airport where you will catch your flight to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Once here, you will be transferred to Porini Lion Camp in time for lunch and afternoon tea. Go on a late afternoon nature walk or game drive followed by a sundowner drink and spotlit night drive before returning to Porini Lion Camp for dinner. The next day is dedicated solely to exploring the rolling savannahs of the Mara on a full-day game drive, either searching for the migration between August and November, or the prolific resident game all year round. Find a scenic spot for a delicious picnic lunch and return to camp in the late afternoon to spend one last night at Porini Lion Camp. From Nanyuki Airstrip you will return to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. From there, a short road transfer takes you to Nairobi International Airport where you will make your international connection home.
